Best Foods For Energy

THE CHASE FOR FOODS:

    Let’s view your body like a high performance race car. You obviously want the best fuel to run your car.  High performance race cars use 110 grade fuel.  This fuel is very expensive but keeps the car running at it’s highest potential for long periods of time.  There is also 93 grade fuel that is used in the high end cars such as your Porsches.  This fuel is less expensive but does a good job of maintaining a high level of performance for quality vehicles.   Lastly, there is 87 grade fuel that is cheap and convenient.  If this fuel was a category of food it would include fast food,  junk food, and high sugar foods which will definitely slow your body down. So treat your body like a race car or high end car when you are training and you will find the results you are looking for in competition or just have more energy to keep up with life!  Here are some food classifications that will help you get the most out of your personal race car:

 

110 GRADE OCTANE FOODS

These are some of the healthiest foods you can fuel your body with.  They are low calorie, yummy tasting and packed full of nutrients, antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Broccoli

Blue/Black berries and berries of all types

Spinach

Oatmeal – old fashioned or steel cut

Sweet Potatoes

Salmon

Tomatoes

Low fat/sugar Yogurt

Low fat Cottage Cheese

Strawberries

Legumes

Walnuts

Dark Leafy Vegetables

All other fresh Vegetables

All other Fresh Fruits

100% Whole Grain Breads

93 GRADE OCTANE FOODS

These foods are great choices for most of your meal choices and will be a healthy addition to the 110 grade foods.

 Whole Grain Breads and Cereals

Lean grilled White Meats

Lean Red Meats

Seafood Broiled or boiled

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

Raw Nuts – preferably walnuts and almonds

Eggs (whites preferred)

Skim or 1% Milk

Olive Oil

Whole Wheat Pasta

1-2 glasses Red Wine

Frozen Fruits and Vegetables

Whole Grain Waffles and Pancakes

Lite Syrups

Protein and Breakfast Bars with at least 10 g Protein and under 20 g Carbohydrates

Low fat /low sugar Ice cream

Natural Peanut Butter

Regular Peanut Butter in moderation

Low fat Frozen Dinners (preferably 450 mg sodium per serving; next would be 600 mg)

It will be no surprise that these foods are the unhealthiest of all your food choices.  It is our recommendation that you simply STAY AWAY FROM THESE FOODS (or, sample them sparingly).
