BEREADY Bond Assignment #2

BEREADY Bond Assignment #2

Hi BEREADY Family,

I hope all of you are doing well and settling back into school mode. Many of you already received the BEREADY Bond Back-to-School-Pack! Be sure to let us how your first days back in classes are going and what’s new at your school.

Here is your task for this month:

1-Tell me 3 ways you feel BEREADY Academy is unique that has nothing to do with basketball. There are no wrong answers so just make sure you give 3 examples from your experiences at BEREADY and give specific details.

2-Ask your one of your parents to answer the same question in the BEREADY blog below. “3 ways Mom/Dad (or whoever brought you to camp everyday) feel BEREADY is unique- that is not related to basketball.

Make sure to complete both parts of the assignment. This task must be completed before the end of September. GO!

Look out for news soon from our Pro Player Coaches and they start their basketball seasons with their new teams and experience life overseas!

See you all soon.

Coach Ben

Three things I thought made BEREADY unique:

    1. We learned how to speak spanish
    2. We had a little brother/sister this year at BEREADY.
    3. We were taught a life skill every day at camp this year.

Three things my parents thought made BEREADY unique:

    1. We had a guest speaker every day.
    2. We learned about what it is like to be a good person outside of athletics.
    3. We had opportunities to learn about nutrition and how we shouold keep our bodies happy.

1.)physical workouts 2.)how to be respectful 3.) teamwork

My parents thought Be Ready was unique because it taught us a foreign language, taught us how to be good people on and off the court, showed us how to be responsible.

1.) The staff was very organized and encouraging to all of the campers. 2.) There always something to do for the campers; if they weren’t physically active, they were mentally active. Always keeping the campers active. 3.) The big brother/big sister program was a great idea to build relationships between the campers.

As a parent of two young men that attended the camp I was impressed that there was after camp work to be completed, the importance of using your non-dominate hand to do a simple task as brushing your teeth. Coach Ben called to ensure the one child that had dietary restrictions was getting enough to eat. That the camp showed the campers that there is more to being sucessful in athletics than God given talent. Thank you for a great camp experience.

I think that be ready acadamy was different because it taught us to get into better habits. Such as the second lesson we learned at be ready acadamy (if u help someone u help yourself). Another technique it taught us was good leadership which u can use in Ny part of life and any team sport. It also taught us to get into better habits such as working harder and working out with hunter to get stronger and more mental toughness, which learning to believe in yourself came along with it

The Beready Academy is different because they focus on the whole person, not just the Athlete. They are different because they care about us from a totaly diffrent aspect the beready camp wasnt only about being good in basketball or anything like that it was a thing of self contennious. amd the thrid way it made people feel like you can be more than just a better athleti be a better student. My parents really wasnt at the camp to be active with it but my aunt really thought it was a good way to go to life thinkg of all the habits we did

The Beready Academy is different because they focus on the whole person, not just the Athlete. They are different because they care about us after Camp is over by using the online website to report on how you are doing in school and to stay focused.
School has been going great, I started the 8th grade and like my school. I joined the program sponsered by IBM where we go to the IBM building in the University area and have a video conference with students in South Africa. The students there go to the American Embassy to use their equipment to speak to us. My school has about 20 student that were picked for this. We have different subjects that we talk about, like Religion, politics, racism, culture etc.

My parents like the fact that I always try to look outside the box. They feel that the Beready Academy encourages kids to be the best they can be and that there is more to life than sports. They liked the variety of things that were offered to us.

Sorry that my post was late, I had 4 wisdom teeth removed last week.

    1) It told us to study hard in school, because few of us if any will make it as a pro athlete. 2) I liked the exercises and they will help for any sport. My favorite was the leg lifts 3) The camp talked about eating right, not junk.

I thought the life-related skills/advice was good for the kids. Joshua just went through a football camp and the only thing they addressed was football skills.
The European experience of several of the coaches made for a higher quality skills and BB IQ camp.
Lastly, I enjoyed seeing Joshua not being the best player (which he has always been in every sport he’s tried). It was a good wake-up call for him…hopefully, he now understands the work needed to become really good at something.

    1. It not only teaches you about basketball it teaches you about life. It shows you how to make good decisions and reach for your goals. For example when our first special speaker came he said that he saw his friend in the gas station buying cigarettes while he was buying the newspaper. He asked him how he was doing and he couldn’t answer be cause he wasn’t doing good. His friend took the wrong path in life while he chose the right decisions and became very successful. When josh jones came he talked about how he had open heart surgery and had to fight through life and he had to make some HUGE decisions in life. Griff
    2. When Griff gets something in his head, he follows through. By striving for a goal, he finished a task for a school reading project that allows him to go a special camp and he was successful. He also does things he does not enjoy such as math sheets every night just as he didn’t get too excited when the coach made them stretch and warm up. He knows that sometimes you have to do things you don’t like if you want to move forward. The camp also showed him how to make good food choices, he tries at home (mainly me making him) but is getting better. Mum.

I think that Be Ready can teach you many leadership skills. It can also teach you be encouraged to meet new people. Lastly I think that it can teach you to strive and reach for your goals.

Each BEReady camp Isaac has attended has had some basketball and bigger-than-basketball carryover after camp. Isaac definitely applies the basketball skills learned when playing on his team, or practicing on his own. However, as parents, we are able to see, and talk about with him, the other skills – such as being a good listener, striving to make good decisions, and working hard to accomplish goals. Of course my favorite life lesson is adapted from my favorite part of camp, the closing cheer: “My time is…NOW! BE Ready!” Helping him see how we need to “be ready” for when our time is called upon is a great tool to prevent procrastination, motivate extra effort, and just generally be prepared to deal with life’s happenings, including mistakes. We have to BE Ready for anything life, not just on the basketball court. Coach Ben and his staff make sure that is lesson number one in this “basketball camp.”
