Coach Ben
BEREADY Academy’s director, Ben Ebong, has played professional basketball for the past 12 years. He grew up in Nebraska, where he was a star basketball player in high school, and earned a scholarship to attend a Division I school. He was coached by the legendary, Bob McKillop, and was part of Davidson College’s Southern Conference championship team. After NBA camp invitations and success in the NBA minor leagues, Ben traveled around the world playing for European basketball’s (FIBA Europe) top teams.
Ben organizes popular basketball training camps for youths back in Nebraska and North Carolina. Assisted by a professional crew of dedicated trainers, he helps teach the fundamentals of the game, sharpen their playing skills, and gain insight into winning basketball strategies. Youths acquire basketball skills, but more importantly build character, understand the value sportsmanship, and discover the significance of teamwork at BEREADY Academy.
B.E. (or Ben Ebong) READY started in 2008 as a way for Ben to share his on- and off- court experiences with the youth. As a mentor, he is described as someone ‘who laces up his own sneakers’ and actively works toward helping others pursue their dreams. His curriculum uses his expertise in basketball as a medium to transform youths into successful adults. But campers only recognize the fun, enjoyment, and excitement of learning from professional athletes.
Above all, Ben enjoys using the thrill and lure of basketball to prepare campers for a life of pursuing their passion and tools to ‘BEREADY’ for success.
